Pragati Academy, formerly MET Public School, was established in 1991 and later renamed on the advice of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the visionary scientist and 11th President of India. A perennial source of inspiration, Dr. Kalam’s dedication to education, innovation, and nation-building continues to guide us.
We have had the rare privilege of welcoming Dr. Kalam to our campus on multiple occasions, where he interacted with students, shared his vision for a developed India, and ignited young minds with his words of wisdom. His visits left an indelible mark on our institution, reinforcing our commitment to fostering scientific curiosity, leadership, and integrity.

Pragati Academy Receives the Honour of Being a Registered Space Tutor of ISRO at a function at Raj Bhavan on 4th April 2024
Pragati Academy has been accorded the prestigious status of a Registered Space Tutor of ISRO as part of the premier space research organization’s Outreach Initiatives. This recognition was conferred at a special event marking the launch of this initiative, reaffirming the academy’s commitment to fostering scientific curiosity and advancing space education among students.
The official launch of the ISRO Space Tutor Programme took place on April 4, 2024, with His Excellency Shri Arif Mohammed Khan, Hon’ble Governor, presiding over the event. The occasion was further enriched by the esteemed presence of Dr. G. Madhavan Nair, Former Chairman of ISRO, Shri S. Unnikrishnan Nair, Director of VSSC, Trivandrum, Dr. V. P. Joy IAS, Former Chief Secretary, Dr. Indira Rajan, Managing Director, and Ms. Suchitra Shyjinth, Principal of Pragati Academy. Representing the student community, Ms. Ishitha Shyjinth, Head Girl of the school, added to the significance of the event, marking a major step toward enhancing space education.
The ‘Space Tutor’ programme is designed to promote space education by facilitating the dissemination of enriched knowledge in the space domain through collaborations with institutions engaged in STEM activities. Recognized organizations under this initiative are expected to design and deliver innovative, activity-based space education programs, ensuring an engaging and hands-on learning experience for students.
