Padma Vibhushan Dr. G. Madhavan Nair – Former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation, and Secretary to the Department of Space
Dr. G. Madhavan Nair
Science and technology have always been the driving forces behind human progress, shaping civilizations and improving our quality of life. From observing nature to discovering scientific principles and applying them to solve real-world problems, every breakthrough has paved the way for advancement. It is undeniable that nations with a strong foundation in science and technology hold the key to shaping the future.
India’s rich scientific heritage is a testament to this fact. Thousands of years ago, our ancestors developed advanced technologies in urban planning, agriculture, metallurgy, and healthcare, including Ayurveda. Their deep understanding of the cosmos—planetary movements, stellar constellations, and the solar system—has stood the test of time, aligning remarkably with modern astronomical calculations. However, due to the absence of proper documentation and structured education, scientific progress stagnated for centuries. It was only after independence in 1947 that India regained its momentum in scientific research and innovation.
At Pragati Academy, in collaboration with the innumerable science initiatves , ISRO Space Tutor Community, we are committed to nurturing scientific curiosity and innovation among our students. By fostering a spirit of inquiry and equipping young minds with the right knowledge and skills, we aim to empower them to contribute to the ever-evolving landscape of science and technology. Through our initiatives, we strive to instill a passion for space science and technology, inspiring the next generation of citizens , scientists, engineers, and innovators. ISRO’s recognition as a space tutor for Pragati is a huge milestone in this mission .
Let us work together to build a future where knowledge and innovation lead the way!
Warm regards,
Dr. G. Madhavan Nair
